Get to Know: #14 Jackie Stanco
Jackie Stanco has had a breakout junior season after sitting out last season due to her transfer. She has led the Delta League in goals and scoring and is on the TopDrawerSoccer.com All-America Watch List. She has committed to play at the University of Arizona. She plays for San Juan Soccer Club.

How excited are you about the opportunity to play in the NorCal Semifinals today?
"It is really exciting especially since we are playing in Division I. We have been working well in games that are super vital to our season. We hope we can pull thru a win and go to the finals."

Did you expect to have such an impact offensively?
"I wanted to have an impact but I did not expect it. I hoped to score a lot of goals but not 21. It has been exciting."

How rewarding has the season been after sitting out last season?
"It is super rewarding. I wish we could have won our league and gone D1 for sections. We are doing super well. Sitting out was a big part of me knowing what I need to do when I do come in and get the chance to play."

Why did you commit to play for the University of Arizona?
"Originally I had been talked to Cal. But Arizona started calling me and I went on a visit. I fell in love with the campus. It is bigger and the campus was so much more green and not just a concrete campus. The coaching staff made all the difference, were really welcoming and they wanted me. I wanted to be where I am wanted. They had a pretty good season this season."

What are you looking forward to about club season?
"Our fall season was not the best. But with everyone doing well in their high school seasons I think that is going to carry over and we are going to want to fight. It is going to be fun."

Why do you wear No. 14?
"My dad played with No. 14. He played soccer for the majority of his life and he taught me the sport and contributes to a lot of my success. I do it to represent him and I love the number."

What is the motivation behind your goal celebrations?
"The dance move is called the Stanky Legg so it is kinda like my last name. Everyone loves it so I do it to make them happy." #DotheStanco

Do you have a favorite goal from this season?
"The second goal against Davis because I saw her (the goalkeeper) out and I just kicked it over her. It was the nail in the coffin for them."

You play at aggressive game. Has that always been your style of play?
"I used to be real aggressive because I broke my collarbone. I think I am starting to get back to the aggressiveness. Sometimes it is not the best idea but it is how I play."
