Soccer Gets No. 5 Seed in CIF Northern California D1 Regional Bracket

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2 champion St. Francis soccer team received a No. 5 seed in the CIF State Northern California Regional Division I bracket announced Sunday and will play at No. 4 Oak Ridge at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Ridge defeated Folsom in the SJS D1 final on Saturday 2-0.

St. Francis (22-2-3) won the Sac-Joaquin Section D2 title with a 3-2 win over Ponderosa on Saturday. Oak Ridge (17-2-1) is ranked No. 1 in the section by Maxpreps and the Troubadours are No. 2, while the teams are No. 4 and 5 in the state rankings. The teams are No. 22 and No. 24 in the national rankings.

Oak Ridge has won eight straight games overall with their only losses to Ponderosa (2-1) on Dec. 11 and at Granite Bay (1-0) on Jan. 29. They tied Whitney 1-1 on Jan. 17.  St. Francis has won 11 consecutive and are undefeated in road games this season (6-0-1).

No. 1 Clovis West hosts No. 8 Carondelet, No. 3 Archbishop Mitty hosts No. 6 Berkeley and No. 2 Monte Vista hosts No. 7 Saint Francis (Mountain View) in other action. Winners face off on Thursday, March 5.

St. Francis qualified for the CIF NorCal Regionals for the second consecutive season. The Troubies won the CIF NorCal Division 2 title in 2019.
