Troubie Spotlight: Volley For A Cause
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Every point, set or match in volleyball begins with one event: service. Appropriately enough, when St. Francis seniors Sydney Chow, Mana Jafari, Nika Jafari and Copeland Williams launched a non-profit operation called Volley For A Cause, they did so out of a desire to serve.
Rowe, Jafari represent SF at Optimist All-Stars
FOLSOM, Calif. – Opposite Gabrielle Rowe and setter Nika Jafari earned spots in the Sacramento Breakfast Optimist’s senior all-star volleyball match, held at Folsom Lake College Sunday afternoon. Rowe and Jafari each played in the large-schools match for the South squad, which ultimately lost in heartbreaking fashion to the North team in five sets, 21-25, 15-25, 26-24, 25-19, 16-14.
Paeu-Lindgren leads 10 first-team All-SFL honorees in fall haul
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Tayli Paeu-Lindgren took part in a three-way tie for Offensive MVP in girls’ flag football, leading a host of St. Francis athletes in the fall All-Sierra Foothill League honor roll, as announced by the conference office this week.
Troubie volleyball season ends at No. 2 Folsom
FOLSOM, Calif. – Junior middle blocker Marissa Jensen contributed on four of her team’s six total blocks while senior defensive specialist Mana Jafari served up three aces, but seventh-seeded St. Francis came up short against second-seeded Folsom in the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I girls’ volleyball championship tournament Thursday night.
Troubies breeze past Knights in SJS Div. I opener
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomores Gilly Glikman and Sophia Palmeri combined for 21 kills and just one attacking error while junior libero Malia Fat collected a career-high 23 digs, helping seventh-seeded St. Francis roll to a 25-9, 25-14, 25-7 sweep against 10th-seeded Thomas Downey in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I girls’ volleyball championship tournament Tuesday night.
