Get to Know: Soccer's #28 Mia Solorio-Smith
Junior Mia Solorio-Smith joined the soccer program this season. She played in the Placer Development Academy prior to this year. She now plays for the San Juan Soccer Club. She has scored five goals and recorded five assists this season including the first goal in the win over Rodriguez last week.
 
How excited are you about the matchup on Tuesday with Granite Bay?
"I am very excited. With this being my first year, the opportunity to win it all is exciting. We are playing against some of my (club) teammates. It will be exciting to see who closes it all out on the field."
 
What has it been like to contribute to the varsity team this year?
"It has been really fun and hanging out with all girls and developing that connection with them this year on the field has been amazing. It is definitely a different experience playing for high school."
 
Why did you decide to come out for the high school team this year?
"My dad has always told me that playing for high school was so much fun and different. I was finally ready to give up the DA and play here."
 
What is a fun fact about you?
"I was named after Mia Hamm. My mom read the book about her and I was named after her."
 
What do you like to do away from soccer?
"I like to hang out with my friends and family. I ran track last year."
 
What are your goals in the sport of soccer?
"I have always grown up with the goal to play professionally. It is definitely hard but I have also wanted to play in college and go to a really good school. It is one of my big goals."
 
What is your favorite thing about scoring goals?
"Scoring goals is fun. I like the pressure of knowing I am a goal scorer and the team knowing they have someone to lean on. Once you do score, it relieves all the stress and the whole team is excited."
 
If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, where would you live: Pretty Little Liars.
What is your Greatest Achievement: Scoring winning goal for eighth grade championship.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be: Travel back in time. 
If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future: Future.
What's the concert you want to see: Drake.
What teacher has inspired you the most: Mr. Hendrickson (6th Grade).
If you could trade places with one person: My stepmom.
Favorite Dinner: Tacos.
Favorite Holiday: Fourth of July.
Favorite Soccer Player: Messi.
Hero: My Aunt.
Bucket List: Travel to every continent.
