Soccer Takes Down Elk Grove 6-0

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis soccer team tied a season-high with six goals in a 6-0 win over Elk Grove on Wednesday. It was the fourth consecutive win for the team while out-scoring their opponents 13-2 over the stretch.

"It was a really important win," said Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson '86. "We have training hard this week and trying to be more disciplined in a few areas, especially in our ability to link. Can we score some goals? And we did today."

Six different players scored on Wednesday started by senior Abaigael Reilly, who scored in the 22nd to provide the only goal needed off an assist by senior Taylor Earle, one of two she would provide in the game.

"She was injured and delayed coming out with us but she has worked and worked," said Robinson. "She got a chance and she buried it. It was an important goal and game winner. At that point we had had chances but it was zeros.

Junior Jackie Stanco scored her 15th of the season nine minutes later and Earle added to her season total (10) off an assist by Stanco right before the half.

"We had a variety of goal scorers and scored in a variety of ways," said Robinson. "I am pleased the hard work paid off."

The Troubadours added goals by Marli Berry, Macayla Ratukalou and Mia Solorio-Smith for the final margin of victory.

St. Francis travels to Davis on Friday for a 5 p.m. start in the stadium. The game will be available on the NFHS Network. The JV Gold team opens play at 3 p.m.
