Soccer Posts 1-1 Tie at Franklin

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Junior Mia Solorio-Smith scored her first career varsity goal in a 1-1 tie at Franklin on Tuesday.

"We are still trying to find our way," said Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson '86. "Against PG we felt good about ourselves and we came out flat and they caught us. Today we had intensity and had chances. We had some breakdowns but we managed. We are getting back."

The Troubies are 0-1-2 over the last three games heading into the second half of the league schedule starting Friday against Cosumnes Oaks at 4 p.m. at Cristo Rey HS.

Solorio-Smith scored off a restart in the 24th minute of the first half after being fouled.

"What a great hit, side net and on frame," said Robinson. "It was excellent. I had not seen her take a restart before and she stepped up and wanted it."

The Wildcats eventually tied the game at 1 later in the half and the two teams had a scoreless second half.

"We are all trying to find the connection with each other," said Solorio-Smith after her first goal of the season. "In practice we are working but our connection has not been there. We are trying to bond to make sure we have the better connection on the field."

The Troubies host Christian Brothers on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the annual Holy Cup matchup.
