Soccer Wins Section Opener 5-0 over Vacaville

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Jackie Stanco scored twice, sophomore Kenna Delemos scored her first career varsity goal, junior Mia Solorio-Smith had two assists and Taylor Earle had both a goal and assist in an opening 5-0 win over Vacaville in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II opener.

"It was necessary and picked up our tempo for the rest of the game," said Stanco. "We scored some more goals and it was good."

St. Francis (19-2-3) takes on No. 8 Rodriguez on Friday at 4 p.m. at Cristo Rey High School. The Mustangs defeated Roseville in a shootout 3-1 on Wednesday.

Stanco got the Troubadours off to a great start with a goal early in the third minute off a Taylor Earle assist. She scored again four minutes later as Kenna Delemos set her up for her second goal. She now has 19 goals on the season.

Earle got in the action three minutes later scoring off a pass from Mia Solorio-Smith, who setup Kenna Delemos in the 22nd minute for her first career varsity goal.

"It was pretty exciting and I was glad I could help the team," said Delemos.

Micayla Ratukalou scored the only goal in the second half as Sf closed out the shutout to win their playoff opener.

"Our defense has been playing pretty well," said junior captain Hailey Lemon. "We are really connected back there. We stay tight and communicate well."

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children.
