Soccer Wins Rocklin Invitational with 4-0 Shutout over Whitney

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Senior Taylor Earle scored the first goal and assisted on two to lead St. Francis to a 4-0 win over Wookcreek in the Rocklin Invitational championship game Saturday night at Rocklin High School.

"We are really excited because we had only one game before this tournament," said Earle. "We wanted to come out and work on some things. It was really exciting to get some wins and have a strong foundation for the rest of the season."

St. Francis finished 3-0-1 on the weekend with wins over Bella Vista (2-0), Rocklin (3-0) and Woodcreek with a tie 0-0 tie with Vista del Lago to remain undefeated on the season at 4-0-1.

Earle got the Troubadours off to a fast start with a goal in the third minute of the game off an assist by Lindsey Piatanesi. It was her first goal of the season.

Junior Jackie Stanco added a second goal five minutes later off an assist by senior Marli Berry. Stanco score four goals in the tournament and now has five for the season. She scored in three of the four games.

Berry increased the lead to 3-0 before the half off the first of two Earle assists in the 15th minute.

Senior Micayla Ratukalou scored for the second straight game to complete the scoring off the second assist by Earle, who now has a team-best four for the season.

"Taylor assisted and it was good," said Ratukalou. "We all worked really hard on it. She got the ball to me and I shot it in."

Three players were named to the Rocklin Invitational All-Tournament team: Hailey Lemon, Stanco and Marli Berry.

"We are really because we had a lot of people scoring goals and assisting this weekend," said Earle. "It showed it is a team effort and it is not a single person scoring up top. I was really proud of back line this weekend because we only had one goal scored on us all weekend. They were solid all weekend."

St. Francis returns to action on Tuesday against McClatchy at Cristo Rey HS at 4 p.m. before traveling to Vacaville on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game at the Horsecreek Soccer Complex.
