SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Mia Solorio-Smith and senior Taylor Earle provided goals and top-seeded St. Francis posted its 14th shutout of the season with a 2-0 win over No. 8 Rodriguez in the Sac-Joaquin Division II quarterfinals Friday afternoon at Cristo Rey High School.

Solorio-Smith found the net in the 37th minute of the first half to get the Troubadours on the board after a frustrating opening as SF dominated play but could not find the net.

"We were a little frantic at the beginning but once we got the goal we realized we were in it and it helped bring back the intensity," said Solorio-Smith, who recorded her fifth goal of the season.

Earle, who has been one of the scoring leaders, added an insurance goal in the second half in the 47th minute and the Troubie defense held strong preventing any serious threats from the Mustangs. It was her 13th goal of the season.

"Honestly I am not sure why we had so many shots without a goal," said Earle. "Credit to the goalkeeper. She did a really good job stopping out shots and holding onto the ball. We hit the post and were just wide. Hopefully we got them out of the way for the next game."

St. Francis improved to 20-2-3 on the season with their 10th consecutive win and fourth straight via shutout. The Troubies have yet to allow a goal in the playoffs, outscoring their opponents 7-0. Overall they have allowed just one goal over the last 14 halves.

"We played Ok today," said junior captain Hailey Lemon. "We will need to play a stronger especially against a team like Granite Bay. We just need to keep communicating."

St. Francis will host Granite Bay on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in the semifinal round of the bracket at 4 p.m. The Grizzlies advanced in a shootout over No. 5 Pitman Friday. No. 2 Ponderosa handed No. 7 Rio Americano a 4-0 loss, while No. 3 Vista del Lago defeated No. 6. St. Mary's to setup the second semifinals. The winners will play on Saturday at a time and site to be announced.
