Appropriately enough, when St. Francis seniors Sydney Chow, Mana Jafari, Nika Jafari and Copeland Williams launched a non-profit operation called Volley For A Cause, they did so out of a desire to serve.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis captured its fourth all-time Delta League All-Sports Championship, presented to the member school with the best overall performance across the league’s sponsored sports. The Troubadours won or tied for five of the 10 possible championships in 2022-23: cross country, volleyball, basketball, soccer and swimming & diving.

The Troubadour basketball team won the league title outright while the soccer team shared the banner with fellow area powerhouse Davis.

Chisolm, who previously served as the Associate Athletic Director at University High School in San Francisco, will assume his new role effective July 18.     SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis’ Kevin Warren, Julia Southard and Brian Nabeta each earned Coach of the Year honors in softball, lacrosse and swimming, respectively, while softball pitcher Hope Jenkins and lacrosse midfielder Zahra Smith were both selected as the Player of the Year for her sport as the Delta League rolled out its full slate of spring sports awards following the conclusion of the Sac-Joaquin Section postseason.

Swimmer and water polo player Teaghan Brostrom was elected president, volleyball player Olivia Mlikotin was chosen as vice president, diver Jaiden Jackson was named as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, while lacrosse player Abby Gillum was tabbed as secretary.

Jenkins claimed the Leadership Award while Joaquin was bestowed with the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Alphabetically, the honorees were Tatiana Cornejo (Cal Poly cross country/track & field), Sofia Flores (Central Washington soccer), Baya McIntosh (Cal Poly Humboldt rowing), Caroline Murdoch (Occidental soccer), Justine Pulmones (Dominican volleyball), Makayla Todd (Cal Poly waterskiing) and Safaa Umar (Fresno Pacific tennis).

In all, a total of 19 Troubadour athletes captured All-Delta League accolades in the school’s five Delta League fall sports.

  • Honbo joins Troubie staff as assistant AD

    Previously a member of the intercollegiate athletics staff at UC Davis for 25 years, Mark Honbo joins the St. Francis High School family as the new assistant athletics director for communications. He replaces the beloved Steve Shaff, who departed the Troubie program in 2020.
