Get to Know: Soccer's #8 Marli Berry
Marli Berry is in her fourth season with the St. Francis varsity soccer program. She has scored nine career goals and recorded four assists. She recently made a verbal commitment to play at Howard University in Washington, D.C.  She is going to study biology.

How excited are you to play at Howard?

"The first time I went there was with my brother when he was looking at the school last year. I really liked it. I reached out to the coaching staff before my next Showcase and asked them to come and we started talking. I really like the school and have had a lot my family who h ave gone to school there. Once I went, I knew it was where I wanted to go."

What did you like about the soccer program?

"I like their mentality and what they have been able to accomplish. The coach has really changed the program and they have been doing really good. They have a great mentality and work ethic."

What does continuing your soccer career in college mean to you?

"It means everything. I do not know what I would do if I did not get the opportunity to continue to play soccer because it has been a part of my life for so long. If I was not playing I would still play club. It is really important to me and I am really passionate about it."

What are your memories about the NorCal Championship last season?

"It was literally the best season for soccer I have ever had in my life. The championship was great but I loved the environment with the girls. Everyone came to practice and gave it their all without expecting to win anything. Every game we came in with a great mindset and it was the best thing ever."

What are your goals for the high school soccer season?

"My goals are to keep the same environment. I want to incorporate love and positivity with everyone coming together as one team to play for each other no matter the outcome."

How have you got better over your four years in high school?

"Technically I have gotten better. High School really brings a different element and makes you get out of your comfort zone. Like being a freshman on varsity, you have to talk to new people or playing new positions. It teaches you to be flexible."
