Soccer Garners Seven Delta League Selections

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis soccer team had seven players recognized on the All-Delta League team selected by the coaches. The Troubadours finishes second overall in the league standings with a 9-1-2 record.

Junior Jackie Stanco was joined by senior Taylor Earle, senior Marli Berry, junior Jane Gregory and junior Hailey Lemon on the first team. Senior Grace Barger and sophomore Kenna Delemos were second-team selections.

Stanco, who was named the team's Offensive Most Valuable Player, leads the Delta League in goals (21) and points (46) among three Troubadours among the top three in scoring. Earle is third in goals with a career-best 14 and third in points (36). Berry has notched nine goals to rank fifth overall, earning her third consecutive selection to the all-league team. She will play at Howard University in the fall.

Gregory, Lemon and Delemos anchored the St. Francis defense that allowed a league low seven goals. Lemon received the team's Golden Boot Award and was the team's Defensive Most Valuable Player. Delemos was the Newcomer of the Year.

Barger was the recipient of the team's Cornerstone Award at the team banquet and capped her senior season with her first Delta League honor. It was also the first all-league selection for Stanco, Gregory, Lemon and Delemos.

St. Francis hosts the CIF State Northern California Regional semifinal on Thursday against Carondelet at 4 p.m. at Cristo Rey High School.
