Hailey Lemon is in her second season on the varsity and serves as one of the team's captains. She has played 52 varsity games over the last two seasons. She likes to do yoga and cycling in her free time. She plays for the San Juan soccer club. She has many nicknames including HayHay LuLu and just plain Lemon.
How does the playoff experience from 2019 help the team?
"It helps us know what to expect and to come out hard. We don't want to take any chances."
What has been the key to the team's defensive success?
"The key to our defense is our communication and we all work well together. If we communicate and work together, nobody can get buy us. We are good at covering each other."
How have you improved individually this season?
"I have gotten better as a teammate and I am more understanding of my fellow players. Nobody is perfect. I try to listen to what they need and try to help them out."
What does it mean to you to be a captain as a junior?
"It feels good. I know I now have more expectations of me. I have to be more prepared and understanding."
How does yoga and cycling work outs help your soccer?
"Cycle helps with my endurance and it is fun because I just blast music. Yoga helps with my stretching and mobility."
Do you see soccer being part of your life in college?
"I think so. Right now I am undecided because I want to do nursing and it is a very hard combination. I went to Boise State for an ID camp and I really liked it a lot. It is at the top pf my list right now. If I don't play college soccer, I want to go to school near a beach like San Diego."
Does the 2019 CIF NorCal Championship give the team confidence?
"It definitely gives us confidence. Sometimes it might have given us too much (confidence) and we have come out thinking we are better. But it has been good to lose or tie a game because it has brought back to reality and not take things for granted."

What is your Greatest Achievement: Varsity Soccer.
