Soccer Rolls with 4-1 Win over McClatchy

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Jane Gregory scored her first goal of the season and second of her career to lead the St. Francis soccer team to a 4-1 win over McClatchy Tuesday at Cristo Rey High School.

Gregory scored in the second minute to give the Troubadours an early lead. Micayla Ratukalou scored her third goal of the season less than six minutes later off an assist by Lindsey Piatanesi, extending the lead to 2-0. It was the third straight game with a goal for Ratukalou, who scored against Rocklin and Woodcreek last weekend.

Senior Taylor Earle got in the action before the half, pushing the lead to 3-0 off a ball from Emma Noll. It was her second goal of the season.

The Lions scored on the Troubadours in the second half, ending the scoreless half streak at three. But Hayley "Beanie" Kreling added a fourth goal for the Troubies off an assist by Taylor Earle, the team-best fifth of the season for the senior.

St. Francis improved to 5-0-1 with the win, taking their third straight overall.

DID YOU KNOW: The soccer program won three titles this weekend, taking the Rocklin Invitational (Varsity), Inderkum Varsity Invitational (JV Gold) and Inderkum JV Invitational (JV Red)…The teams combined to score 35 goals against just three allowed in winning the three championships…Junior Jackie Stanco leads the team with five goals.
