Get to Know: Soccer's #12 Taylor Earle

Get to Know: Soccer's #12 Taylor Earle
Taylor Earle is a second-year varsity player. She recovered from an ACL injury her sophomore season to score six goals and record four assists as a junior and has tied her single-season high with six goals and recorded a career-best five assists this season in 13 games.

What does it feel like to be a senior?
"It is weird. High school has gone by really fast. But I am excited to see what is coming up and there are a lot of exciting things in the future."

Looking back on the Gothia Cup, what is your favorite memory?
"My favorite memory was the opening ceremony. Every single team filled this giant stadium and got to walk out on the field. It was really cool to represent your country and every one was so united by the sport of soccer. I had never experienced anything like that and probably never will again."

What has it meant to you to play for St. Francis?
"St. Francis soccer means a lot because there is such a great history behind it. The teams in the past have done really well and it makes me excited to be a part of team like last year that made it really far and got a banner up. This year, we are off to a great start and could finish off the same or better."

You are having one of your best seasons (6 goals, 5 assists). What is it like to contribute offensively this year?
"I have been working really hard off the field with my training. It has been cool to see it pay off and be able to be the person on the team people can took when we need to score. I take the role seriously and I hope to continue to get better at it but I like being in that position."

What was the hardest part of the recovery process from your ACL?
"For me it was really difficult with the mental aspect and not feeling as much part of the team because I was not contributing on the field. I made it a priority to come to all the practices for club and did my rehab next to my teammates. I went to all the tournaments and filled up water bottles. It taught me to be more of a leader and to be the person my teammates can confide in. It was a new role for me but I think I really grew as a person thru that experience."

What are you looking forward to about the matchup with Davis?
"I play on David Legacy and a lot of my club teammates are on the team. We have been really close in past seasons but we have not quite pulled out a win. I love the rivalry with have them because it gets the most out of the competitive people on the team. I am really excited for the matchup. I think it is going to be a really good game to watch."
