Basketball Falls to Woodcreek in Section Playoffs

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – The 11th-ranked St. Francis basketball team lost to No. 6 Woodcreeek 58-45 on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I bracket. The Troubadours finished the season at 15-14 on the season.

"We played really hard," said Head Coach Heather Volek Brownholtz. "Woodcreek is a really good team and when you only lose five games in a season you become really formidable. I could not be more proud of my crew and more importantly we created a great team this season."

St. Francis got 16 points from senior Mia Fleming-Mullins and six boards, while senior Jasmine Lee finished with 12 points in her final game and Nicole Rivera added nine. Junior Mackenzie Le had seven points and six boards for the Troubies.

"There were a lot of tears in the locker room tonight because it does come to an end and there is only one team ends with a win," said Brownholtz. "There was a lot love in the room at the end."

"I thought we were right there and could knock down a couple more threes," said Brownholtz. "They made some good adjustments. It was a good playoff game. We came up short but the effort, desire and heart was there."
