Basketball Splits Final Two Road Games, Awaits Playoffs

DAVIS, Calif. – The St. Francis varsity basketball team closed the season with a 78-51 loss at Davis after a close 56-54 victory over Sheldon to complete the regular season at 15-13 with a 8-4 league mark to finish third overall in the league standings.

Senior Mia Fleming-Mullins had 21 points and 12 boards in the loss at Davis. Nicole Rivera contributed four first-half three-pointers for 12 points and Sarah Cloninger had 10 points and eight boards.

St. Francis fought back against an early deficit in the game, falling behind 13-3 in the opening quarter before closing back in within a basket. Fleming-Mullins had nine points in the first, while Rivera paced the team in the second with three triples. SF trailed 38-31 at the half but bounced right back early in the third but the Blue Devils took a 10-point lead into the final quarter.

Davis out-scored the Troubies 21-4 in the final quarter to take the win on their Senior Night.

On Wednesday, Sarah Cloninger had a career-high 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead St. Francis to a win over the Huskies.

St. Francis awaits the announcement of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoff bracket Saturday afternoon.
