Basketball Opens Lake Tahoe Jamboree with Two Wins

LAKE TAHOE – Rising senior Mia Fleming-Mullins scored a game-high 18 points as the St. Francis basketball team opened the Lake Tahoe Jamboree with a 64-25 win over Terra Linda and then came back three hours later to score 33 points against Live Oak in 62-39 win. St. Francis continues bracket play on Saturday at 3:40 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College.

"We have been putting in some work and grinding hard," said Head Coach Heather Volek Brownholtz, who was part of the winning team in this tournament in 1990 with Clovis West. "I had a great feeling the girls would come to play today with fresh legs."

All 15 players and Brownholtz conducted the St. Francis Basketball camp for five days this week after a 7-gmae tournament at Chico State last weekend and Summer League play.

"We have been fully immersed in basketball these last three weeks," said Brownholtz. "It has been difficult but I am really thrilled the girls showed up."

Fleming-Mullins combined for 51 points over the first two games, while the Troubies got points from 12 different players in the first game. Rising senior Jasmine Lee added 10 points in the win over Live Oak and Mackenzie Le had double-digit assists.

"I couldn't be more pleased with the great start," said Brownhotz.
