Basketball Closes Central Valley Showdown

CLOVIS, Calif. – Junior Sarah Cloninger had her first varsity double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead St. Francis to a 60-29 win over El Capitan to finish the Central Valley Showdown with a 3-1 record.

Seniors Nicole Rivera and Mia Fleming-Mullins each scored seven points in the first quarter as the Troubadours jumped out to an 18-1 lead in the game.

Cloninger scored eight of her 14 and Fleming-Mullins added six in the second as SF took a 35-8 lead at the half.  Fleming-Mullins continued her scoring attack with nine points in the third and finished with a career-high 28 points. It was her third straight 20-point game and fourth of the season.

Rivera finished with seven points and a career-high 13 rebounds.

In its first game on Saturday, four players scored in double figures in a 68-39 victory over Kimball. Fleming-Mullins had 24 points and nine rebounds. Jasmine Lee contributed 12 points, Nicole Rivera added 11 and Mackenzie Le scored 10.

St. Francis (4-2) returns to action in the Vista-Folsom Classic against McFarland at 7 p.m. at Vista del Lago HS.
