SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis basketball team was awarded a No. 11 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoff bracket announced Saturday and will travel to No. 6 Woodcreek on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
St. Francis will be making its 17th consecutive postseason appearance. The Timberwolves are 23-5 on the season and went 10-2 in the Capital Valley Conference to finish second overall. They have four common opponents during the season including Delta League teams Cosumnes Oaks, Elk Grove, Davis and Sheldon.
The first-round winner will take on the winner from No. 3 Oak Ridge and out-bracket game between No. 14 Davis and No. 19 Rocklin on Thursday.
Senior Mia Flemoing Mullins finished the regular season as the Delta League leader in points per game at 17.2 and her 448 points is the third-best single season total in school history. She also led the league in blocks. Junior Sarah Cloninger led the league in rebounds at 9.1 per game and double-doubles (8) with seniors Jasmine Lee and Nicole Rivera 1-2 in three-pointers made per game. Junior Mackenzie Le led the league in assists per game (5.2) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.67-1).
The SJS basketball postseason determines playoff teams by qualifying through league standings as well as the top 15 teams by division at the end of the season by MaxPreps rankings. Divisions 1-4 are then split evenly by enrollment.
Admission prices are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students with free admission for children (5 and under).
