Basketball Scores 70 in Win at Pleasant Grove

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Sophomore Carolina Ingenito and junior Natalie Graybill combined for 13 points off the bench in a 70-45 win over Pleasant Grove on Tuesday. It was the second straight league win as the team improved to 3-1 in Delta League play.

"The girls work really hard in practice and it is their game day," said Head Coach Heather Volk Brownholtz. "They deserved it to get in this game and they did very well."

St. Francis (10-9) opened the game with a 19-point first quarter led by senior Mia Fleming Mullins, junior Sarah Cloninger and senior Nicole Rivera, who each had a pair of baskets. Fleming-Mullins added 10 of her game-high 20 points in the second period as SF led 42-27.

Mackenzie Le scored seven of her 10 points in the third as SF extended the lead. Ingenito chipped in two baskets, before finishing with seven points while Graybill added six points. Junior Maggie Marchant added four points in the final quarter.

"We came out in the first half and got up a lot so that open3ed up the bench so we could contribute in the second half," said Ingenito.

Cloninger finished with 11 points and seven boards, while Le added 10 points, five assists and four steals. Senior Jasmine Lee contributed eight points.

"Overall it was a good victory," said Brownholtz. "I just want to the girls to be mentally tough as we come around the corner to Sheldon on Friday."

St. Francis hosts Sheldon for two games on Friday nights starting with JV Gold at 5:30 p.m. The JV Red team takes on Elk Grove beginning at 4 p.m.
