SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sac-Joaquin Section Division II runner-up St. Francis soccer team earned a No. 4 seed in the CIF State Northern California Regional Division II playoffs. They will host No 5 Leland at 6:30 p.m. at Cristo Rey High School on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for students, children (5+) and seniors.

Leland is from San Jose. The Chargers are 16-3-3 on the season with an 11-1-2 record in the Blossom Valley Athletic League in the Central Coast Section to win the league title.

No. 2 seed Leland lost to No. 6 Archbishop Mitty 1-0 in the semifinals of the Central Coast Section Open Division Bracket. Freshman Ruby Teixeira leads the team in scoring with 16 goals.

St. Francis is 20-3-4 on the season, reaching the Sac-Joaquin Section finals before falling to No. 2 Whitney 3-0.

The winner of the matchup on Tuesday plays the winner of No. 1 Whitney and No. 8 Cardinal Newman. No. 2 Montgomery and No. 7 Menlo School and No. 3 Mountain View and No. 6 Livermore meet in other Division bracket play on Tuesday.

Winners will play at the higher remaining seed on Thursday, Feb. 28 at school sites with the finals on Saturday at school site.

It is the first appearance for the Troubadours in the CIF Northern California Regionals in the second year of the event hosted by the CIF. There are five brackets Div. 1-15 in both the NorCal and SoCal divisions.
