Soccer Opens New Season, Venue with Win over Bella Vista

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis varsity soccer team opened the 2018-19 season with a 5-1 win over Bella Vista on Tuesday at the Adamson Family Sports Complex.

Senior Lindsey Porter scored two goals for the Troubadours. Junior Marli Berry and Taylor Earle added goals for St. Francis with Marcela Foreto Pretto scoring her first varsity goal in her first varsity game after scoring 20 in her first season on the Junior Varsity red team last season.

St. Francis was aided by assists by Elise Urkov and Jane DeFazio, junior Emily Bellena, sophomore Abaigael Reilly and Earle.

Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson also credited Hailey Lemon with a nice game defensively.

Junior Kimberly Riley and Gigi Koerwitz combined in goal for the win.

St. Francis (1-0) was playing the first game on the new field at Cristo Rey High School, which will serve as the home pitch for the varsity and junior varsity gold programs this season.

The JV Gold team opened with a 0-0 tie against Bella Vista.

Both teams return to the pitch on Thursday at Cristo Rey for 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. games against Del Oro with varsity starting off the action.
