Troubies win top singles but fall overall at Davis

DAVIS, Calif. – St. Francis made its second trip to Davis for Delta League girls' tennis dual action in less than a month, with a similar outcome to the first: wins by freshmen Maria McDougall and Alexa Randall in the top two singles matches in a 7-2 overall loss to the Blue Devils.

The Troubadours end their regular season with a 10-5 record and an 8-4 mark in their final season with the Delta League. The Blue Devils move to 16-0 overall, wrapping up the league title with a perfect 12-0 ledger. St. Francis finishes third in the standings behind Davis and Pleasant Grove (10-2), earning one of the four automatic spots in the Sac-Joaquin Section postseason.

McDougall and Randall won each of their matches in straight sets. McDougall defeated Hannah Proctor by scores of 6-0, 6-1  at No. 1 singles, while Randall dispatched Cloe Lamoureux, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. However, Davis swept the remaining four singles matchups and all three doubles, including double-bagel victories on three courts.

The Troubies now enter the postseason portion of the schedule, starting with the Delta League singles championships on Monday and doubles draws on Wednesday. Both events take place at Laguna Creek Sports Club, with Pleasant Grove hosting. Matches will start at 9 a.m. each day.
