Troubie tennis rolls past Cosumnes Oaks

ELK GROVE, Calif. – St. Francis won all six singles and all three doubles to claim a 9-0 shutout of Cosumnes Oaks in Delta League girls' tennis dual action Tuesday afternoon.

The Troubadours improve to 8-3 for the season and 5-2 in league play.

Five of the six singles were decided in straight sets, with Alexa Randall (No. 2), Sophia Troppmann (No. 5) and Anna Dinh (No. 6) surrendering only two games. The No. 2 doubles tandem of Kate Jones and Sarah Ramos-Lasso and No. 3 team of Katharina Gensler and Ananya Saini won even more decisively, departing their respective courts with identical 6-0, 6-1 victories.

Junior Tatum Walbeck had the most contested battle of the afternoon, doing split sets and an extended tiebreaker with Gabie Rosenthal. Walbeck easily won the opener, 6-0, then lost the second by a 7-5 final. The two went to 12-12 in the single-game tiebreaker before Walbeck completed the win with successive points.

This is the second straight 9-0 win for the Troubies, and the fourth of the year, all coming against Elk Grove schools: Elk Grove (Sept. 5 and Sept. 28), Sheldon (Sept. 19) and now CO.

St. Francis returns to the EGUSD one more time with a match at Franklin on Thursday. First serve is 3:45 p.m.
