Frosh Troubies score singles wins at Davis

DAVIS, Calif. – A pair of St. Francis ninth graders, Maria McDougall and Alexa Randall, respectively scored straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but the Troubadours ultimately fell by a 7-2 team score to Davis in a Delta League girls' tennis dual match Tuesday.

St. Francis slips to 6-3 for the season and 3-2 in league play.

McDougall scored a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hannah Proctor at No. 1 singles, while Randall snared a 6-0, 6-2 sweep of 2022 All-Delta League honoree Cloe Lamoreau one court over. Unfortunately for the Troubies, the two freshmen had their team's lone wins for the day. All four other singles matchups and three doubles pairings went to the Blue Devils in straight sets. Junior Tatum Walbeck put up the closest battle, battling Maya Moeller in a 6-4, 7-5 setback at No. 3 singles.

Tuesday's match was originally scheduled as a St. Francis home date, but moved across the Yolo Causeway to Davis due to court availability at Rio Del Oro Sports Club.

The Troubies, who last played at home on September 5, return to action in yet another road dual at Elk Grove on Thursday.  Match time is 3:45 p.m.
