SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Juniors Tatum Walbeck, Anna Dinh and Arden Garcia, all third-year veterans of the program, picked up singles victories as St. Francis fell to McClatchy by a 6-3 final in girls' non-league tennis action Thursday afternoon.

Walbeck won a split-set marathon of a match against Katelyn Guo at No. 3, winning the first set, 6-3, falling by a 7-5 tiebreaker in the second, then winning the single-game tiebreaker third by a 10-7 score. Dinh and Garcia prevailed in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Dinh dispatched Jane McCormack, 6-2, 6-4; while Garcia blanked Hope Holland in the first set before pulling off a closer 7-5 battle in the second frame.

The Troubadours' No. 1 and No. 3 doubles tandems also battled in close sets, including tiebreakers in the second. Kavya Benush and Litzy Alengaden fell to Lila Swanson and Madeline Doughty, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4); Sarah Ramos-Lasso and Laila Shamshad lost to Mia Kauffman and Tenli Sam, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).

Thanks to CKM's sizable roster, SF head coach Kristi Spector went deep into her roster in giving players match experience. Kate Jones and Anya Bilal won an 8-7 pro set in an exhibition doubles matchup, while Ananya Saini, Katharina Gensler and Salem Monjazeb also saw court time in exhibition play. Scores from their matches are as yet unreported.

St. Francis opens Delta League action against Elk Grove at its "home" court of Rio Del Oro Sports Club on Tuesday. Match time is 2 p.m.
