ELK GROVE, Calif. – Senior Caroline Niethammer and sophomore Ava Ensberg combined for a straight-set, 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, but St. Francis lost the other eight matches in a Delta League girls' tennis dual match at Pleasant Grove Monday.

The Troubadours slip to 10-4 for the season and 8-3 in league play, the latter of which includes two losses to the Eagles. Monday's match was the resumption of the rain-suspended October 10 meeting.

Niethammer and Ensberg took down Arena Chau and Kylie Smith by scores of 6-1, 6-1. Arden Garcia and Laila Shamshad had the nearest challenge to a second victory, rallying back from a first-set loss to take a 6-2 win in the second set. But Maya Nanigian and Julian Orozco picked off a 10-5 win in the one-game tiebreaker. Coincidentally, Nanigian/Orozco used a 10-5 tiebreaker to dispatch Ensberg and Ananya Saini in SF's visit back on September 14.

St. Francis concludes the dual portion of the 2023 schedule with a match at Davis on Thursday. The Blue Devils have already clinched the Delta League title with a 10-0 record through Monday, two wins and a series sweep ahead of PG (8-2) and 2.5 games ahead of the Troubies.
