St. Francis rolls past West Campus in Foundation Game exhibition

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Senior post Raquel Smith scored 13 points, while senior guard Carolina Ingenito added eight to lead St. Francis High School to a 63-24 exhibition win over West Campus in a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Foundation Game Monday night.

The contest, one of dozens held throughout the Sacramento and San Joaquin areas, raises funds for the Dale Lacky Scholarship and Women in Sports Conference. Even the game officials are contributors, as each works the contest on a volunteer basis.

The Troubadours scored 10 of the first 11 points of the game, holding a 22-6 lead through the first quarter and a 33-12 advantage at the halftime break. All 12 players scored at least two points, with Smith's output coming on 6-for-8 shooting. Emily Dusel and Brianna McGahan added six more each, while Chidera Okoye and Zahra Smith leading the boards with seven rebounds apiece.

Meanwhile, the SFHS defense stifled the Warriors to just 20.9 percent (9-for-43) from the floor.

All three Troubie teams resume action in a tripleheader at Granite Bay on Tuesday. The JV Red and Gold teams play their season openers at 4:00 and 5:30 p.m., respectively, then the SFHS varsity squares off with the Grizzlies for a 7 p.m. nightcap.
