Seven Troubies make winter All-Delta League, Robinson honored for coaching

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Maryclaire Robinson earned girls' soccer Coach of the Year accolades while a total of seven St. Francis High athletes earned All-Delta League distinction as the conference rolled out its year-end awards slate for winter sports this week. The Troubadours field soccer and basketball during the winter season.

The Delta League soccer coaches also bestowed second-team honors, while each school has one Sportsmanship Award honoree per sport as selected by the respective coaching staff.

Robinson, who finished her seventh season with SFHS in 2021-22, guided the Troubies to a 15-5-3 overall record, a Delta League championship, and a second-round berth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I tournament. From the Troubie soccer team, Alex Davis, Jaycee DeFazio, Kate Killer, Micaela Romo and Mika Shinoda made the first team, while Laila Hadid and Rory Peters garnered second-team nods. Senior Caroline Murdoch was selected as the team's Delta League Sportsmanship Award recipient.

Robinson, a St. Francis alumna, becomes the third Troubie mentor to earn the league's year-end coaching award during the 2021-22 school year. She joins Melanie Cleland (cross country) and Marisa Kolokotronis (water polo).

From the basketball team, sophomores Chidera Okoye and Brianna McGahan each earned All-Delta League acclaim. The basketball coaches select only a first team. The Troubies went 14-12 overall and finished in a tie for third in the conference standings at 7-5. They snared one of the Delta League's automatic berths in the CIF-SJS Division I tourney. Senior Carolina Ingenito claimed the team's Sportsmanship Award.
