SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Both St. Francis doubles teams reached the semifinals of the Sac-Joaquin Section Doubles Championships on Thursday.

Junior Alisha Anwar and Izzy Asker opened the day as the No. 3 seed after winning the Delta League title. They advanced from the opening round with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Izzy Garcia and Madeleine Hell of St. Mary's 6-0, 6-0. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Olivia Tea and Makenna Schmidt of Woodcreek 6-3, 6-0.

Seniors Bianca Ariza and Samantha Sonntag, the No. 4 seeds, advanced to the semifinals with a straight set win in the round of 32 over Abbey More and Sophia Covello of Woodcreek. They also were victorious in the round of 16 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Laura Garcia and Drew Villagomez over River City.

Both teams advance to semifinal play on Friday at 10 a.m. at Johnson Ranch Racquet Club in Roseville.
