Tennis Shuts Out Elk Grove 9-0

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Behind sweeps by both the doubles and singles lineups, the St. Francis tennis team posted a 9-0 win over Elk Grove on Thursday at Rio del Oro Racquet Club.

The Troubadour doubles unit swept all six sets, dropping just five games for the match. Junior Rosmy Alengaden and Ella Dichiara were 6-1, 6-2 winners at No. 1, while freshman Chloe Garcia and freshman Norah Zhou paired for a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubs. Junior Siena Vincent and freshman Lucy Phillips completed the sweep with a straight-set win at No. 3 doubles.

Junior Alisha Anwar played at the top singles position, dispatching Mia Linham 6-3, 6-0 in first match this season at the top spot. Senior Samantha Sonntag remained undefeated in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2. Sophomore Safaa Umar improved to 7-0 in singles, winning at No. 3. Freshman Polina Greenberg, junior Maddie Brown and sophomore Lauren Lai were also 6-0, 6-0 winners.

It was the 11th consecutive win for the team and 48th consecutive Delta League dual match victory.

St. Francis (11-1, 5-0 Delta) travels to Cosumnes Oaks on Tuesday.
