SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team posted a 3-0 record with wins over Folsom (6-3), Gregori (8-0) and Granite Bay (5-3)to win the 2019 NorCal Team Tennis title Saturday at Johnson Ranch Racquet Club.

The Troubadours took three of five singles matches and two of three doubles matches to defeat the Grizzlies 5-3. Senior Samantha Sonntag was a straight-set winner at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-1. Sophomores Safaa Umar and Polina Greenberg were also winners at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.

Junior Alisha Anwar and Bianca Ariza won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, while senior Peyton Spellacy and Maddie Brown paired for a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

In the first match on Saturday, SF defeated Gregori 8-0 at Johnson Ranch. Singles winners included Adithi Benush at No. 1, Samantha Sonntag ate No. 2, Safaa Umar at No. 3, Polina Greenberg at No. 4 and senior Bianca Ariza at No. 5. The Troubies also swept the doubles with wins by Anwar and Izzy Asker at No. 2, Spellacy/Brown at No. 2 and Emmy Goebels and freshman Chloe Garcia at No. 3.

St. Francis (8-1) defeated Folsom on Friday. The two teams split the singles with Asker winning at No. 4, Umar at No. 5 and Greenberg at No. 6. SF clinched the match by sweeping the doubles with Sonntag/Ariza (No. 1), Spellacy/Brown (No. 2) and junior Rosmy Alengaden and Goebels winning at No. 3.
