Tennis Posts 50th Consecutive Delta League Win

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team posted an 8-1 win over Franklin to record their 50th consecutive Delta League win and improve to 13-1 on the season.

"I am really proud of the streak," said junior Alisha Anwar. "Every time we play a match we play our hardest and fight to win."

Anwar led the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles.

"I felt pretty good about the match," said Anwar. "We are working team work and being there for each other and our competitiveness."

Senior Sam Sonntag posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2, while junior Alex Evans was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 3. The Troubadours also got wins by Polina Greenberg at No. 4, senior Bianca Ariza at No. 5 and senior Peyton Spellacy at No. 6

SF won two of the three doubles match to complete the match. Freshmen Chloe Garcia and Norah Zhou were straight set winners 6-2, 6-3 over Codie Yeoung and Vanessa Blackwell.

Juniors Allison Prestwich and Siena Vincent added a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3.

St. Francis has not lost since dropping a 5-4 decision to Franklin in the 2015 season. The Troubies are at Pleasant Grove next Tuesday.
