Tennis Wins Ninth Straight with 9-0 Victory

ELK GROVE, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team swept Sheldon 9-0 on Thursday to win their ninth straight match overall to improve to 9-1 on the season. The Troubies have won 46 straight league matches dating to 2015.

Freshmen Lucy Phillips and Nora Zhoe were 6-1, 6-1 winners at No. 2 doubles in their firt prep match of their career. Siena Vincent also made her season debut, pairing with Allison Prtestwich at No. 3 doubles for a 6-0, 6-2 win. Senior Bianca Ariza and sophomore Ella Dichiara led the doubles sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1.

The Troubadours opened the match with a singles sweep, dropping just 10 games over 12 sets. Senior Adithi Benush won at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 over Minh Tran. Sophomore Safaa Umar did not drop a game at No. 2 singles and sophomore Polina Greenberg won in straight sets at No. 3. Senior Peyton Spellacy won at 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, while junior Maddie Brown was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 5. Rosmy Alengaden completed the sweep at No. 6.

St Francis hosts rival Davis at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday at Rio del Oro Racquet Club.
