Q&A with Bianca Ariza GoTroubies.com Player of the Week

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior tennis player Bianca Ariza was named the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for play Sept. 8-15after a stellar week leading the tennis team to the Northern California Team and posting a 5-0 overall individual record.

The nominees for the week of Sept. 8-15 included cross country's Cate Joaquin, volleyball's Ellie Eichhorn and golf's Ceci Fletcher.

Ariza played two matches at the No. 1 in doubles position with Alisha Anwar and at played No. 5 in singles in the win over Gregori in the two-day tournament. She also posted two wins in singles in league dual matches over Franklin and Pleasant Grove.

Ariza is now 9-1 on the season overall in leading the team to a 9-1 team record. She is 52-5 in her career and was the 2018 Delta League Doubles Champion.

GoTroub'es.com's Libby Slater talked to Ariza about her performance:

What does getting this award mean to you?

"Getting this award means a lot to me and I am very honored. It just shows me that my hard work in practices and matches are paying off and I need to continue to work hard even on days when I'm tired and don't want too."

Coming off a great weekend, what really pumped you up? 

"Coming off of winning the BOSS tourney last weekend, I was pumped up that my team did so well and worked really hard in all their matches. It is always so great winning a tourney and playing our best. We are taking our energy and our positivity to our next match which is Davis and it is always a good battle with them."

What are you looking forward to throughout this coming season?

"I am looking forward to having a super fun and great last season with my teammates and coaches! Our team goal is to win sections and norcals and we are all working hard to do that so I can't wait for those matches to come up and for us to go out there and win it!"
