Tennis Wins Home Opener over Pleasant Grove

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team swept their home opener on Thursday over Pleasant Grove 9-0 to improve to 5-1 on the season. The Troubadours won both of their Delta League matches this week with an opening 9-0 win over Franklin on Tuesday.

SF got singles wins from Adithi Benush, Sam Sonntag, Alex Evans, Safaa Umar, Bianca Ariza and Polina Greenberg to sweep the singles matches. The Troubies only dropped 14 games overall in the 12 singles sets.

Senior Peyton Spellacy and junior Maddie Brown took the top doubles match 6-2, 6-3 over Hanah Shih and Rachel Hoang. Junior Rosmy Alengaden and Junior Emmy Goebels combined for the win at No. 2, while freshmen Norah Zhou and Chloe Garcia were 6-0, 6-3 winners in their prep debuts.

St. Francis has won 44 consecutive dual matches. They return to the court on Friday for the NorCal Team Tennis Tournament against Folsom.
