  • Water Polo Coach Heather Moody to Take ARC Post

    St. Francis water polo coach Heather Moody has resigned to take the Head Water Polo Coach position at American River College. Moody led the St. Francis water polo program for six seasons from 2013-18. She was originally named the head coach of the St. Francis Water Polo program in August 2013.

    Seniors Elise Urkov and Patricia Sweeney were honored as the Booster Club Scholar-Athletes of the Year, while Myra Anwar and Jade Borg received the Booster Club Leadership Award.

  • Nine Senior Troubadours Sign to Play Collegiate Sports

    Nine St. Francis seniors have made commitments to play collegiate sports this fall and were recognized at a ceremony at the school, bringing the total to 23 student-athletes for the Class of 2019. The Troubadours who signed on April 17 represent seven sports (basketball, cross country, lacrosse, rowing, swimming, tennis and water polo) and will be attending schools in four states (California, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington).
  • Alumna Charter Makes Local Visit with Nationally-Ranked Cal Water Polo

    Alumna Lauren Charter ’15 played in Davis on Feb. 16 with her nationally-ranked Cal Water Polo program in a single match against the Aggies. Four years after leaving Sacramento to attend UC-Berkeley, Charter has made her mark in and out of the pool during her time with the Golden Bears.

    Sophomore Libby Slater was named the St. Francis water polo player of the year after leading the team in scoring with 49 goals. She received her honor at the team’s annual end-of-season banquet.

    The St. Francis water polo program earned a No. 3 seed in the Division II bracket in the 2018 CIF Girls Northern California Water Polo Championships. The Troubadours will play No. 6 seed Clovis West at Clovis North High School at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.

    Emalee Lavezzo has been a four-year member of the varsity team after earning a callup her freshman season. She has scored 18 career goals in 58 games. She loves sushi. She is the SBO Secretary this year and was named the Student of the Year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

    Libby Slater scored five goals to help the St. Francis water polo team post a 15-6 win over Ponderosa on the opener of the Granite Bay Tournament at American River College. The Troubies came back in the afternoon to defeat Los Altos 9-3 as Kendall Houck found the net four times.

She was one of five Troubadours named to the USA Water Polo Academic All-America team this fall. She plans to study nursing in college after participating in the Kaiser internship program this summer.

    The St. Francis water polo team dropped a pair of games this weekend at Woodcreek and Miramonte. The Troubadours fell to Woodcreek on Friday 6-4 before traveling to Miramonte on Saturday.

    Malia is in her third season on the St. Francis varsity team and fourth overall in the program. She picked up the sport as a freshman. She was part of the St. Francis Chicago Service Trip this past summer. She is undecided on college at this point trying to find the right fit. She is also a member of the St. Francis swimming team.

    The St. Francis water polo team finished sixth at the Capital Challenge Saturday, posting a 2-2 record with wins over Los Gatos and Clovis. It is the highest finish in the tournament under Head Coach Heather Moody.

    Seniors Abbey Berg (Sacramento), Reagan Garcia (Carmichael) and Emalee Lavezzo (Sacramento) joined juniors Alyssa Jacobsen (Sacramento) and Caroline Wilkins (Carmichael) were named to the USA Water Polo Academic All-America team announced last week.

    Kate Watley is in her third season with the St. Francis Water Polo program and second season on the varsity team. She attended the Chicago Service Trip this summer with two of her teammates among 13 Troubies on the trip. She hopes to study nursing in college. Kate was part of Team Curesaders that raised $139,000 for LLS this summer.
