Get to Know: Water Polo's #13 Reagan Garcia
How does it feel to be a senior?
"It is kinda crazy. The four years went by really fast."

What is your favorite aspect of being on the team?
"My favorite thing is definitely my teammates. Getting in the pool and practicing with them, we have a very good environment we have created. We lift each other up. We have struggled a little bit with negativity going around but we are working on that right now. We have some positive air."

What are your college plans and/or goals for next year?
"I am looking at the University of Utah. I want to go into nursing and I know that is something I want to do. I love it. I am looking at Utah, San Diego State and Chapman for water polo. We went to Salt Lake City three years ago for the first time. We skied and looked at the university. We went again last year and I still loved it."

What is a fun fact about Reagan?
"My fun fact is that I love to ski. I have been skiing since I could walk. It is definitely a huge part of my life."

Living in California, I have to ask if were you named after Ronald Reagan?
"I was. My parents were raised Republican. It is their political party. My dad's parents met him and have a picture with him. I really liked him so they named him after him."

What will be your lasting memory of St. Francis?
"My lasting memory will definitely be the friend's I've made, the teachers who have helped me along the way and everything I have learned. It is a great place to be."

What did the USA Water Polo Academic All-American honor mean to you?
"It is definitely hard to balance sports and academics at the same time. I know a lot of girls struggle keeping up on their school work and being in the pool for three hours a day. It means to me that I can put in the work in the pool and classroom and get noticed for it. It is a good thing."

What was your takeaway from the Kaiser internship and how did it inspire you?
"I knew I wanted to go into nursing since the sixth grade. I have seen up close and personal the nursing world when my grandma had surgery five years ago. I have seen nurses and specialists so I have knonwn I have wanted to go into the health field. But I did not know exactly what I wanted to do. On my first day of my internship, I saw a gallbladder surgery, standing right next to the patient having their gallbladder taken out. I knew this was what I wanted to do."
