Water Polo Opens Granite Bay Tournament with Two Wins

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Libby Slater scored five goals to help the St. Francis water polo team post a 15-6 win over Ponderosa on the opener of the Granite Bay Tournament at American River College. The Troubies came back in the afternoon to defeat Los Altos 9-3 as Kendall Houck found the net four times.

St. Francis jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Pondo in the first period and then added five goals in the second to lead 7-3. Sf added two in the third and exploded for six goals in the fourth.

Houck scored three for the Troubadours with Zoe Sloat and Malia Arnott adding two goals each. Sarah Mudd, Abbey Berg and Alyssa Jacobsen also contributed goals in the win.

In the second game, Houck had four goals and Arnott connected for the second straight game for two goals. Sloat, Slater and Berg added goals for SF.

St. Francis plays Sanger at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning and then finish the tournament with Castilleja at noon. Both games are at American River College.
