Water Polo Finishes 3-1 at Grizzly Classic

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis water polo team finished 3-1 at the Grizzly Classic, splitting their two games Saturday at American River College.

The Troubadours opened play Saturday morning with a balanced scoring attack as six players scored in the contest. St. Francis led 5-3 at the half and sealed the game with two fourth-quarter goals. Zoe Sloat scored twice in the contest, while five players scored single goals. Malia Arnott, Libby Slater, Caroline Wilkins, Kendall Houck and Reagan Garcia found the cage. Kate Watley had a solid game in goal for the win.

In the final game of the tournament, St. Francis fell to Catilleja by the score of 13-5. Houck scored twice in the loss with Wilkins, Emma Johnson and Libby Slater adding goals for St. Francis.

St. Francis defeated Ponderosa and Los Altos in the first day of the tournament on Friday.

The team hosts their Letters to Mom event on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. before returning to the pool on Friday at Jesuit High School against McClatchy at 6:45 p.m.
