Troubies wrap action at Stanford Invite

Troubies wrap action at Stanford Invite

STANFORD, Calif. – Seniors Grace Dunham and Kayla Towne each placed 12th in their respective events to lead St. Francis at the Stanford Invitational track & field meet at Cobb Track & Angell Field Saturday.

Dunham, a day removed from hitting a PR in the 3,200 meters, finished the 1,600 in five minutes, 13.76 seconds. Towne was the last Troubie competitor of the day, posting a season-best 2:18.98 in the 800 meters. Both runners committed to UC Davis last November. Towne was the top finisher from the Sac-Joaquin Section in her event, besting Granite Bay's Kylie Nasca (2:21.10) and Rio Americano's Summer Doyle (2:21.12).

Additionally, the SF foursome of Kyah Pickett, Alexa Randall, Colleen Medina and Lucia Vicio led off the day with a 51.67 in the 4x100 relay, good for 23rd place. Freshman Jasleen Gandhoke later placed 30th in the 100 hurdles with a wind-aided 19.12.

The Stanford Invitational consists primarily of collegiate events but featured dozens of high school events on its two-day slate. The Troubies return to action in another highly select meet: the Arcadia Invitational, on April 5 and 6. Dunham (Open mile), Gandhoke (Open high jump) and each of the 4x100 and 4x800 relays qualified for the meet.
