FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Freshman Jasleen Gandhoke won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.52, while fellow ninth graders Alexa Randall and Nassali Serwanga also picked up meet awards, highlighting St. Francis at a rain-soaked Bella Vista's Bronco Speed Festival track & field meet Saturday.
As the name suggests, the Bronco Speed Festival consists sole of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays plus running events of 400 meters or shorter.
Gandhoke outran Sheldon freshman Margot Zemke by 23 hundredths of a second to claim the lone Troubadour event win of the day. Randall won the 16th heat of the 100 at 13.25 to place fourth among the overall 87 entrants, while Serwanga ran a personal-best 52.50 in the 300 hurdles to win the second heat and finish sixth in the 14-finisher field. Randall also led all SF athletes in the 200 at 27.71, and anchored the fifth-place 'A' squad in the 4x100 relay, joining Colleen Medina, Lucia Vicio and Kyah Pickett for a 50.87 time.
The top six individuals in each event plus top three relays earned meet awards.
St. Francis begins its two-week Easter break on Monday, with only select Troubies in action during that span. Gandhoke (100 hurdles), freshman Tayli Paeu-Lindgren (long jump), senior Caitlin Hafenstein (100), senior Kayla Towne (800, 1,600 and 3,200), senior Grace Dunham (1,600 and 3,200) and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays have been accepted to the Stanford Invitational on March 29 and 30.
Accepted entries into the 56th Arcadia Invitational (Apr. 5-6) will be posted on Thursday.
