Dunham hits PR on Day 1 at Stanford Invite

STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Grace Dunham placed 10th with a personal record in the 3,200 meters, the a Troubadour foursome matched that finish in the distance medley relay, while freshman Tayli Paeu-Lindgren wrapped up Friday's action for St. Francis at the Stanford Invitational track & field meet at Cobb Track & Angell Field.

The Stanford Invite is mostly a collegiate meet but features numerous high school events on both Friday's and Saturday's slates.

Dunham crossed the finish line in 11 minutes, 5.38 seconds to improve on her previous PR of 11:06.65, set at the 2023 Halden Invitational. The UC Davis commit ranks seventh in school history, and seeks to become just the second Troubadour in the last eight years to crack the 11-minute barrier. She slipped to as far back as 14th by the one-mile mark and hovered in 13th with 800 meters to go, but ended up moving past Rocklin's Allie Harman, Casa Grande's Avery Codington and Downey's Zoe Leach across the last two laps. Dunham covered the final 400 meters in 1:16.20, overtaking Harman in the process.

The Troubies' DMR engaged in a tight battle as one of five teams, four of which hail from the Sac-Joaquin Section, crossing within a span of a single second. Granite Bay took sixth at 12:59.91, Lincoln of Stockton placed seventh at 13:00.33, Oak Ridge followed in eighth at 13:00.70, Convent & Stuart Hall was ninth at 13:00.87, with St. Francis in 10th with a 13:00.91 time.

Paeu-Lindgren represented SF as the program's lone field athlete at Stanford, posting a 15-foot, 7-inch effort in her first attempt. The multi-sport standout qualified for the meet via a 17-0 leap at Placer's LeFebvre Relays.

The Troubies continue action in the Bay Area on Saturday, with Dunham in the 1,600, Kayla Towne in the 800, freshman Jasleen Gandhoke in the 100 hurdles, plus foursomes in each of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
