Cross Country Third at Clovis Invitational, Top Division II Team
CLOVIS, Calif. – The St. Francis cross country team placed third in the Clovis Invitational Girls Championship race behind only two Division I schools Great Oak and Buchanan at Woodward Park, the site of the CIF State Championships.
Sophomore Cate Joaquin and senior Isabella Fauria were seventh and eighth overall in the race in 17:44 and 17:45, respectively. They were fifth and sixth overall among scoring runners. Sophomore Tatiana Cornejo was 21st in 18:09 (16th scorer) over the 5K layout
Senior Haley Silva was the fourth Troubadour to cross the line in 18:45 (46th/39th), while junior Hanna Hekkanen crossed at the 19:05 mark (65th/57th). Freshman Daphne Witherell was 79th (19:27) and classmate Simone DeBerry was right behind in 84th (19:33).
Great Oak won the team title with 81 points with Buchanan was at 116 with the Troubies third with 123.
