SF wraps season at SJS Masters

STOCKTON, Calif. – Sophomore Arden Han-Wei finished with a 7-over-par 79 as the top individual finisher for St. Francis, which placed 10th as a team at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters girls' golf championship at The Reserve at Spanos Park Monday.

Pleasant Grove won the championship with a team total of 370 strokes, seven in front of Granite Bay and 13 ahead of Oak Ridge. Those three teams earn automatic spots in the Northern California Regional next week.

Han-Wei was the only Troubadour in the top half of the individual leaderboard. She tied for 25th, along with Oak Ridge's Emily Guan and Mountain House's Ashlee Xu. Senior Olivia Lee followed behind in a tie for 69th with 96 strokes, with Momina Niazi (tied-80th, 104), Aja Garcia (tied-86th, 108) and Natalie Zipser (tied-89th, 112). Gianna Seghesio rounded out the SF lineup in 94th (120).

The Masters tournament consists of the top teams and individual at-large qualifiers from the five divisional tournaments. The Troubies earned their ticket to Stockton after placing sixth at the Division I championship at Micke Grove one week earlier. Six teams came from D-I, two each from D-II and D-III, with one each from D-IV and D-V. West Campus did not participate, resulting in an 11-team field on Monday.

Besides the top three team finishers, the top four individuals not on one of those teams also earned entries into the NorCal Championship, held at Berkeley Country Club on November 6. They are Erica Villegas (Vacaville), Hannah Stouder (Christian Brothers), Esther Sheu (El Capitan) and Taylor Baker (Rio Americano).
