SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Momina Niazi and sophomore Arden Han-Wei each fired a 2-over-par 38 to lead St. Francis to a 47-stroke win over Sheldon in a Delta League girls' golf dual match at WildHawk Golf Club Wednesday.
The Troubadours, just two days removed from their second-place finish at the first Delta League center tourney, improves to 2-0 in head-to-head play.
Freshman Nydia Garcia and senior Olivia Lee also added 3-over 39 rounds, giving SF the top four overall scorers in the match. Senior Natalie Zipser chipped in a 50 total with Jenny Ramos turning in a 61. The top Sheldon score belonged to Jia Li Zhou, who carded an 11-over 47 as her team's No. 2 individual.
The strong scores at WildHawk serves as a good harbinger for the Troubies, as it serves as the site of the third league center tourney – and more importantly, the course for the Sac-Joaquin Section postseason qualifying event. St. Francis returns to action on Wednesday, September 20 in a home dual with Franklin at Haggin Oaks. Note: this match was originally scheduled for September 29, but moved up by nine days due to a scheduling conflict.
