Troubies hold off Blue Devils in road golf dual

DAVIS, Calif. – Sophomore Arden Han-Wei fired a 1-under-par 35 while Momina Niazi and Olivia Lee each turned in matching 5-over 41s, as St. Francis outmatched host Davis by a 208-217 final in a Delta League girls' golf dual match at Wildhorse Golf Club Wednesday.

The Troubadours improve to 3-0 in dual play. Wednesday's match also ended a two-week hiatus from action, as St. Francis had its September 20 match postponed. The team's last competition was the road dual at WildHawk on September 13.

Han-Wei eagled the 388-yard, par-5 seventh hole to highlight the lone under-par round by either team. Niazi and Lee each finished with their 41s, while Nydia Garcia birdied the par-3 14th as part of a 44 round. Natalie Zipser and Gianna Seghesio, the latter of whom made her SF lineup debut, each finished with 47.

The match also featured exhibition appearances by senior Aja Garcia and junior Neta Tovar.

Freshman Lily Lingbloom led Davis with a 40, with senior Saera Ojha tying Niazi and Lee for third with a 41.

Davis normally hosts its dual matches on Wildhorse's front nine, but Wednesday's dual began on 10. This brought into play the course's home hole, on which all players struggled: Niazi, Lingbloom and Nydia Garcia each settled for bogey-5s to lead the field on that hole.

St. Francis returns to action on Monday for the second of three Delta League center tournaments, this time at Bartley Cavanaugh in South Sacramento. The first group tees off at noon.
