Troubies honor seniors at PG dual

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Arden Han-Wei tied for the individual lead with a 3-under-par 33 but the day's nine-hole round belonged to the five-person St. Francis senior class, which played as a group for the first time during Wednesday's Delta League girls' golf dual match at Haggin Oaks' Arcade Creek course.

The Troubadours scored 210 as a team. Visiting Pleasant Grove, the runaway league leader, fired an 8-under 172 as a team.

Han-Wei's 33 matched the scores of Eagles Petra Yee and Sophie Cook, while Alaythia Hinds and Gianna Singh finished a stroke behind at 2-under 34. This is the best dual score for the reigning Delta League Player of the Year, eclipsing the 35 she posted at Wildhorse one week earlier at Davis. Han-Wei birdied each of the first two holes in the round, then came home with back-to-back birdies on 8 and 9.

Meanwhile, Olivia Lee scored a 4-over 40 for St. Francis, with Aja Garcia (44), Isabella Hrga (45), Bani Chauhan (48) and Natalie Zipser (50) following on the team scorecard. Lee and Zipser are part of the regular starting crew for the Troubies. Garcia filled in for Zipser in the lineup for the season opener against Cosumnes Oaks, and made an exhibition appearance at Davis. Chauhan and Zipser each made their season debut.

Wednesday's dual was designated as Senior Day, as it was originally the home finale for the Troubies. The five 2024 grads were honored in a brief ceremony after the match. However, the team will return to Haggin Oaks on Tuesday for a dual with Franklin, a match previously slated for September 20.

The SF-PG match also came on the same day as the announcement that first-year head coach Charlotte Mayorkas earned induction into the WGCA Players Hall of Fame. The three-time All-American at UCLA will be honored in an induction ceremony on December 4 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nev.
