Troubies blank Sheldon in another Delta League win
ELK GROVE, Calif. – Nine different Troubie players contributed on scoring plays as St. Francis shut out Sheldon, 6-0, in Delta League girls' varsity soccer action Thursday afternoon.
 
The Troubadours improve to 11-3-2 overall and 6-1-1 in league contests.
 
In order, midfielders Mika Shinoda, Jaycee DeFazio, Micaela Romo and Ella Crisologo scored goals from the 16th through 39th minutes to give SFHS a 4-0 halftime lead. Defender Kenna DeLemos made it 5-0 within the opening minute of the second half, then middie Brooke Castro made it 6-0 with her score in the 71st.
 
Malia McGrail assisted Shinoda's goal in the 16th, Sofia Flores set up DeFazio's in the 29th and Madeline Welch scored the dime on Romo's goal with 8:45 left in the first half. The remaining three goals were unassisted.
 
No junior varsity game was played as Sheldon opted to shut down its jayvee season.
 
St. Francis varsity returns to action with a home matchup against Davis on Monday, a game rescheduled from the original January 6 slot on the calendar. The Troubies' JV Red will host Rio Americano at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon in a contest previously scheduled for Thursday.  JV Gold is back to play at home against Elk Grove on January 27.
